20 months of age
We
had to say goodbye to our Joe far too early in his life.
We have visited the VET almost every day last 4 months before he died. He had a
very sore left front paw. It just seemed an infection in his elbow joint. So
lots of antibiotics, X-rays, ultrasound, more antibiotics, prednisone, pain
killers, you name it.....
But it didn't help. It was an infection or maybe even a tumor in his elbow joint
which didn't cure.
A pity because Joe was so healthy further on. The only solution was to amputate
his paw, but we found that that was not a good idea for such a big dog as Joe
was.
Continuing his life with 3 paws is not what he wanted: we let him run free to
the rainbow bridge...
It was a great dog to have. Fortunately we still have two sons of him: Jaap and
Kerel and these are as great guys as Joe was.
So thank you Joe O'Callaghan for sending this magnificent guy to us. He brought
laughter and fun and in the end the tears....
What could on wish more for (except having him longer around us )
================================
His
name is Joe and as you may have read above we have imported Joe from Ireland. He
is from the same kennel as our previous CH dog
"CHampion Ridgewater Irish Prince of Cork"
.
Joe (official pedigree name: Ridgewater KING Creole) is a great guy, a show boy,
a real KING. But he is gentle and sweet dog with a nice expression.
General information on JOE
Joe is an imported BMD and so very valuable for the breed in the Netherlands and especially for the Dutch BMD population. His parents and in fact almost all his ancestors are from the well known and successful BMD kennel Van 't Stokerybos in Belgium. Joe's mother's name is Emka van 't Stokerybos (HD and ED 0/0) and his father is named Fernandel van 't Stokerybos (HD and ED 0/0 .
Father and
mother: "Emka and Fernandel
van 't Stokerybos"
And this is father Fernandel with his owner from Ireland: Joe O'Callaghan and José at their side:
In September 2009 we took off to Ireland to visit the O'Callaghan family and to meet Joe and his family:

Have a look at the video we made of him and his parents in Ireland

The famous English Bernese Mountain Dog breeder Sonja Gorbould (Kennel "Glanzberg") brought Joe to the main land of Europe
Joe is a very sweet and enthusiastic male. He loves to play with us and is always looking forward playing a game with us. We also taught him to catch a candy (which we lay on his nose). Watch the video for that (or the picture show below). Moreover he always loves to eat candy especially when José gives it in a special way as below:
But sometimes it is training time: we do obedience, show training and teach him all kind of tricks. Joe loves it and he is easy to train!
But playing is the best thing to do (here together with Lenna)
Joe matured into a great BMD male, just take a look:
Many of
his parents are (multi-)champion!! No wonder that Joe is a beautiful male too.
He is doing very well in the show ring.
That is why he is already a DUTCH JUNIOR CHAMPION, a title for only the best
junior dogs.
That says enough on his qualities!!

Ridgewater Belgian Queen (aka Molly, HD 0/0, ED 0/0, Green Stars & Reserve &
Best of Breed)
As all our
dogs also JOE is checked on his hips (HD check) and elbows (ED check). Joe is
excellent on hips (HD-A) and very good on his elbows (ED 0/1), so perfect within
the breeding guidelines. All his ancestors are free on hips (HD) and elbows (ED)
as you can see on his pedigree below. A nice result! This all means that Joe's
off spring has a relative bigger chance on maturing in a healthy way, without
problems on hips or elbows.
HAVE A LOOK at the slideshow of Joe following with more than 65 pictures
of him from puppy to adulthood (2 years of age).
In this picture is Joe 20 months old.
As said, Joe is gentle, sweet, and also a bit barking when strangers come to his/our place. Going for a walk is his favorite hobby!
THAT IS WHY JOE CAN BE SEEN ON VIDEO!

Joe is a middle sized (68 cm and 50+ kg), nice BMD with an excellent head. He is a great mover and has an open character without fear. He is happy, has a steady character and is social towards people and other dogs. Have a look at his pedigree and also take a look at all his ancestors.
