"Best Bunch's Eye Catching Anton"
Today, August 1, 2023, exactly on the day
the kennel is officially 40 years old,
we received the sad message that we lost our beloved male Anton due to bloat. He
didn't live at our house as you know. Our friends immediately took Anton to the
vet's office when they saw that he was very ill. The vets Charlie (and Rudy)
from Veterinary Clinic den Heuvel really did everything they could to get Anton
too red. But unfortunately it was too late for Anton (see
vet statement). A sad day and also a very sad time for us, but certainly
also for Jochem, Silvia and Frans who have to miss their very best, most
beautiful and dearest friend!
Thank you Anton for the many beautiful moments and the beautiful offspring you
have received!
Anton is, as you can see
in his pedigree name, not bred by ourselves but Anton is from the first
litter that was bred by our daughter Lenna and her husband Jan.
They are the third generation Bernese Mountain dog breeders: José's father
already bred Bernese Mountain Dog dogs in the 1970s,
we breed since 1983 and Lenna and Jan since 2017.

And as you can see below, it is a beautiful litter! Twelve beautiful Bernese boys and girls, of which Anton is one of them.

Anton comes from a healthy family. This is also apparent from the size of the litter: he is out of a litter of 12 puppies. They were together with 5 males (5 ♂) and 7 females (7 ♀). But also very important: the entire nest prospered without problems. We hope that Anton will also pass it on to his little kids. But it is also a very beautiful nest. For example, Anton has won many times at major international dog shows in the junior class.
Anton is a Dutch Junior CHAMPION!
Anton is not only a beautiful dog but also a sweet and inquisitive dog. He likes to go on visits with "The Ark van Noah" Foundation" every week elderly homes to give Alzheimer patients a cosy afternoon. He is super sweet and likes to be cuddled:
José did the puppy training with Anton and worked with him up to the Elementary Obedience diploma. That in all weather conditions of course (see photo). We recommend that you do the same as soon as your Bernese Mountain puppy comes home. The dogs learn a lot from it. Not only listening but it is also very good to socializeand learn how to deal with other dogs. You will enjoy it all their lives.

Anton's father
Anton's father is "Zwitser" and his official name is "Fortuneia Caramel Slushie". Zwitser has been imported from Estonia because of its super beautiful and healthy bloodlines. Zwitser's family is not related to our own bloodlines so that you can breed so-called "outcross" litters: dogs that are not related to each other in many generations. That benefits health. Anton's mother
Anton's mother is a dog bred by ourselves: Evita. Her pedigree name is "Luxe Leonora from the Barking Bunch". Evita is a medium-sized dog with beautiful longevity lines in her family. She was born on October 15, 2013. In her pedigree there are many dogs that have reached the age of 10+ and we hope that we can also pass on that longevity through Anton to the next BMD generations!

General information on Anton
Anton is a larger dog with lots of bone and a beautiful coat. He has a nice
powerful male head and the judges said he has
a beautiful top line (nice neck and a strong back). He has nice angulations
and powerful feet. As you can see in the pedigree, there
are several dogs from well known Bernese Mountain kennels
that, just like us, breed with the goal: healthy, beautiful dogs with an above
average life expectancy. Anton's parents and great (-great)
parents come from Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Sweden,
Lithuania and Estonia. A true outcross combination with dogs from all over
Europe. And on the family tree you can see that many ancestors are champions. No
wonder Anton has become such a beautiful Bernese!
All dogs from the 3 generations ancestors are tested on both HD and also on ED
and are all HD and ED-free. Anton himself also has good hips: HD free (A). The
elbows of Anton were also judged and the result: both
perfect, ED 0/0; the best possible result! He is also DM-free by inheritance
(both father and mother are DM free for both exons)
